Laughter is NOT the Best Medicine

Not always.

It’s different when we laugh as we rebuild after natural disasters. Catastrophes instill resilience in people. Laughter heals us, gets us through the crises and gives us momentum as we rebuild.

The ability to laugh at our misfortunes can be a double-edged sword. It’s an admirable way of coping but let’s not forget that laughing in the face of calamities can also divert us from the more important job of rebuilding our lives.
